Photovoltaic

Under the Austrian WEEE Ordinance (EAG-VO), end-of-life photovoltaic modules, together with energy storage systems and inverters, are subject to compliant collection and treatment requirements.

Obligations of producers, distributors and importers

The Austrian WEEE Ordinance (EAG-VO) applies to all companies that place electrical and electronic equipment, including photovoltaic modules, on the Austrian market for the first time: Austrian producers, importers, EPC companies, distributors and installers sourcing products directly from abroad. The following obligations must be met:

  • Take-back of defective PV modules free of charge (provided they were placed on the market after 30th June 2014)
  • Take-back of defective PV modules free of charge upon replacement with new modules (provided they were placed on the market before 1st July 2014)
  • Compliance with substance restrictions
  • Labelling Obligations
  • Registration in the EDM portal
  • Proper disposal of end-of-life modules
  • Annual reporting of PV modules placed on the Austrian market, collected and properly recovered
